The Jumex art collection, located in the outskirts of Mexico City inside of an old Juice warehouse, is one of the largest private art collections in Latin America. I saw a Rodney Graham video show there in 2005. In the show I saw his piece The Phonokinetoscope, a 2002 video installation. It was a five-minute 16 mm film loop that documented an account of a bicycle ride and LSD "trip" which took place in Berlin's Tiergarten. It went along to a twelve-inch vinyl record of him singing a song that he wrote and recorded. Apparently his song was trying to summon the sound of Syd Barrett's song "Bike," the sound track for the sequence in Antonioni's Zabriskie Point where a house is repeatedly blown up in slow motion, and the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where Katharine Ross and Paul Newman go on a bike ride in the countryside.
If you go to Mexico City you should go to the museum. It's open by appointment.

When I went to New Orleans I was there the same weekend as Super Sunday and I was lucky enough to see the Mardi Gras Indians. They make all of their suits over the course of the year with the help of their family and friends by sewing elaborate bead and feather work onto their costumes. These are some pictures I took while I was there. It was hard to choose which ones to show, but here are some of my favorites.
